Why learn the meaning of the Quran

Reciting the Quran correctly is one of the most important things a Muslim learns. Understanding what the words mean is the next step, and it changes the way you pray and read. A verse you have recited for years can suddenly make sense in a new way once you know what it says.

Our Quran translation course is for students who can already read the Quran and want to understand it. It is taught one to one, so the lesson follows your questions and your pace, not the pace of a group.

What you will study

Each lesson combines reading, meaning and discussion.

Word-by-word translation

You learn the meaning of the Arabic words as they appear in the verse, so you see how the translation is built and not only what it says.

Context and background

Your teacher explains when and why a passage was revealed and how it connects to the verses around it, so the meaning is not taken out of context.

Tafseer study

Verses are explained from recognised tafseer sources, with the teacher guiding you through what scholars have said about the meaning.

Vocabulary building

Many words are repeated across the Quran. You build a growing vocabulary, which makes every new surah easier to follow.

Themes and lessons

You look at the main message of each passage and how it applies to daily life, worship and character.

Revision and practice

Each class starts by revisiting what you studied before, so the meanings stay with you.

Who this course is for

It suits teenagers and adults who can read the Quran and want to go deeper, parents who want to understand what their children are learning, and anyone who recites daily but has never studied the meaning.

If you read slowly or are still learning the rules of recitation, you can study translation alongside our Tajweed course. Many students find that understanding the words also helps their reading. Tell us your goals in the free trial and we will recommend a plan.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know Arabic to join?

No. You need to be able to read the Quran, but you do not need to understand Arabic. The course builds your understanding gradually, one word and one verse at a time. If you cannot read yet, start with Noorani Qaida and move on from there.

How long does the course take?

The course is planned around 16 weeks, but the real pace depends on how many classes you take each week and how much you revise. Your teacher agrees a plan with you in the trial class, and you can move faster or slower as you go.

Can I choose which surah or topic to study?

Yes. Many students start with short surahs they already recite in prayer, because understanding them makes salah more meaningful. Your teacher can also build a plan around a surah, a theme or the parts of the Quran you want to understand first.

Is this the same as a tafseer lecture?

No. A lecture is one-way. In a one-to-one class you read, ask questions and go back over anything that is unclear. The teacher explains the meaning and context of the verses and checks that you have understood them.

Can I choose a female teacher?

Yes. Female teachers are available. Tell us your preference when you book the free trial, either in the form or on WhatsApp.

Is there a free trial class?

Yes. The trial class is free with no commitment, and paid plans come with a 7-day money-back guarantee.
