Arabic for the Quran, for study and for conversation
Arabic is the language of the Quran, and learning it opens the Quran, the Sunnah and a very large body of Islamic writing in their original language. It is also a living language spoken by hundreds of millions of people.
Our one-to-one course is built around your goal. If you want to understand the Quran, the lessons focus on the grammar and vocabulary you meet most often in it. If you want to hold a conversation, we add speaking practice early. In both cases you have a teacher who corrects you as you go.
What you will learn
A balanced course that covers all four skills.
Arabic grammar (Nahw)
How sentences are built: nouns, verbs, cases and the structure that connects them, explained with clear examples.
Morphology (Sarf)
How Arabic words are formed from roots and patterns. Once you see the patterns, new words become much easier to recognise.
Reading and writing
Connecting letters, vowel marks and reading new words with confidence, plus writing practice.
Conversation skills
Everyday phrases and simple dialogue, practised aloud with your teacher from the early lessons.
Vocabulary
Useful words first, including the words that appear most often in the Quran and in daily speech.
Regular practice
Short exercises between classes, reviewed at the start of the next lesson, so progress builds week by week.
Quranic Arabic, Classical Arabic and spoken Arabic
These are related but not identical. Quranic and Classical Arabic are the language of the Quran and of classical texts. Modern Standard Arabic is used in news and writing across the Arab world. Everyday speech varies from country to country.
You do not need to decide everything on day one. In the free trial class your teacher will ask what you want to do with Arabic, check your current level and suggest where to start. Pair it with our Quran translation course if your aim is to understand the Quran.

Frequently asked questions
Is this Quranic Arabic or spoken Arabic?
Both are possible. Many students begin with Quranic and Classical Arabic, which helps with understanding the Quran, and add conversation practice later. Tell your teacher what you want to achieve and the plan will follow that goal.
Do I need to know the Arabic letters first?
You should know the letters and be able to read slowly. If you are a complete beginner, start with Noorani Qaida, which teaches the letters, sounds and reading rules.
How long does it take to learn Arabic?
The course is planned around 16 weeks to build a foundation in grammar, vocabulary, reading and writing. Becoming fluent takes longer and depends on practice, but a steady weekly routine gives clear progress.
Can children learn Arabic too?
Yes. Children can start with the letters and basic words and build from there. See our kids Quran program for how we teach younger learners.
Will I learn to write as well as read?
Yes. The course covers reading and writing along with grammar and morphology, so you learn to recognise and write words, not only to listen.
Can I choose a female teacher?
Yes. Female teachers are available. Tell us your preference when you book the free trial.
Is there a free trial class?
Yes. The trial class is free with no commitment, and paid plans come with a 7-day money-back guarantee.
